228; cca bazaar
Friday, January 12, 2007
i signed up for rugby, science society, debate and oratorical society, and some others. guess i overdid it in my excitement and enthusiasm.
the cca bazaar was effective, but not as effective as i had hoped. perhaps the booths were rather cramped together and the people were congregated in that small area, making everything more claustrophobic. i had no idea how we were going to differentiate one booth from the other. i think i got the wrong booth more than twice.
nigel and i had a laughing spree during the bazaar. aint sure why. cause we were having lunch with weihan and john, weihan's friend from maris stella high. we laughed at the most stupid things. something un-funny became very funny. hence, we did earn ourselves a lot of disapproving looks from many students, nyjc-ians as well as other pae students.
we were also approached by the ruggers. which was seriously very coincidental cause i told nigel that if the ruggers came by, the first that they'd target would be nigel himself but nigel didnt buy my explanation.
nigel profusely refused their offer to join the rugby team. what the ruggers didnt know was that i was burning to go into rugby. so nigel turned the tables at me and for once, i felt my face burning with embarrassment. like hello? some skinny student vying for a position in rugby? pretty stupid right. but they managed to answer my questions patiently.
that skinny people can build up. as well as the fact remains, that nanyang rugby requires speed currently. since they've enough of strength. that being said, i don't think that i'm exempted from the brutal physical trainings.
i don't mind. that's pretty surprising. the thought of being bashed up and all that aggression instead appeals to me more. god, what's happening to me? reverse psychology. i mean, no pain, no gain right?
though currently, it involves a lot of pain, and a lot of gain. at least from my perspective of this issue. so, i really want rugby. naturally a lot of friends laughed at me over it. i guess it's hard to swallow; that someone small and skinny is having endeavours for being a rugger.
i need to get soccer shoes. those with the studs. weihan told me that the best bargain are those in queensway. as always, queensway, queensway, queensway. laughs. got to find some time to head there soon. paul, the rugby guy, told me that it's essential in the game of rugby.
peter and yuxue are warning me about broken bones. thanks yeah? that's a very nice prospect to think about. no, i aint angry. just that, it's rather inappropriate to say when i'm so psyched up for it right? but, different people have varying opinions, so just go with the flow.
i'm sooooo excited about rugby. rayson is supportive though. he said that it's always good to try a different sport and the most important thing is to really go all out for it, if one likes it.
enough of rugby already. it's not like i'm a permanent player. the captain might chuck me out for my zero hand-eye coordination. okay, that's pretty much an exaggeration. however, comparing myself to jestyn and all, it feels like i really experience such a problem.
going to work on it.
oh, another bummer. the physical fitness thing, napfa, has been made harder. the standard procedure for pull ups is now more stringent. grading for sit ups and sit and reach is also made more difficult to access students with more accuracy.
whatever. as far as i'm concerned, this whole fitness mania is pretty overrated. acing the six items doesnt mean you're fit, in my opinion. then again, i've no say in such national issues.
something that bothers me currently is xx. i've nasty flashbacks recently, and that's not a pleasant thought. i feel that the only person who'd understand this would be daphne. then again, she's working nasty hours and my school hours are no better, so it's pretty hard to actually talk to her for advice.
on another dismal note. i've negated potato's* claims. i feel that potato has failed to understand the true situation and is only looking at one small angle of a much bigger picture. i understand the whole problem that's escalating because i've been placed in an ironically similar position and understand the other's actions, though it may seem insensitive and heartless.
i miss shuqun friends. i miss them.. i cannot stand it.
today's the last day that og 25 is going to be together. from now, we're going to separate to different classes and meet new friends. it's rather disheartening for me, after being together and bonding through orientation. all the laughter, the complains, the carefree spirit of our team. with carine, zhiyun and hongsiang.
new timetable, new friends, new beginning. gosh, it's going to be another handful next week. i just hope that i'm up to it.
then again, it seems like i've no other option but to sit it through now won't i?
